CONCEPT

In recent years various sizes and chemical species of particle crystals have been founded through biological activities, although it has long been known that some types of metals are concentrated in and/or nearby biological materials. Among those research, we newly discovered that certain bacteria can make nano-sized and high value-added metal crystals. In this research center, we have focused on characteristics of these "biogenic nanomaterials", which can be synthesized by microorganisms with little energy and scarce resources consumption, and from the waste materials through recycling processes. Our proposed technology can be suitable for a low-carbon and sustainable society
